SOMETHING TRULY EPIC

With all of today’s blockbuster movies, the man whose work inspired the word EPIC, Cecil B. Demille, still remains the most commercially successful director in history.
I want my audience to feel what I am telling.
-Cecil B. DeMille-

For many of those films, his granddaughter, Cecilia DeMille Presley was by his side and I had the pleasure of talking with her about the gorgeous picture/history book she wrote with Mark Vieira titled: Cecil B. DeMille-The Art of the Hollywood Epic.
Airing on most of our PBS stations this week, the episode will give you a true insider’s look at not only the man, but the creation of Hollywooditself and what drives a visionary and artist.

From his first silent film The Squaw Man to his acclaimed Western The Plainsman, Cecil B. DeMille not only made the films but invented much of the equipment used to this day.
And when you look at his epics from Samson and Delilah to his most famous film of all, The Ten Commandments, Cecil B. DeMille broke the barriers of filmmaking and set the stage for what we know as the modern films of today.

Enjoy the show and Happy Mother’s Day to all the women who bring life, love and beauty to our world,
Barry
