FINDING YOUR ELEMENT AND STAYING YOUNG

Sir Ken Robinson  returns to Between the Lines, making his debut in L.A. this week and airing in most of our markets, to discuss his latest book Finding Your Element. The essence of the book is to find that one or more thing that as Sir Ken states:
Feels so completely natural to you, that resonates so strongly with you, that you feel that this is who you really are.
After our conversation I continued thinking about why it is so important to find your element. We discussed the many reasons and ways you can discover it, and the necessary purpose for it, but still something was stirring in me that went beyond our discussion.
Last night it hit me. When you find your element not only do you live a more fulfilling life, but it also keeps you young while increasing your wisdom.

Youth and wisdom do not usually go together, but when you find something that resonates deeply in your soul, you develop a youthful outlook on life while simultaneously increasing your quest for insight.

The reason is that giving purpose to your life allows you to see all the potential that exists. In turn we are filled with awe and wonder, the same feelings that often get drummed out of us as we age, but return once you find your element. As Sir Ken puts it:

Finding your element is about discovering what lies within you and, in doing so, transforming what lies before you.
By allowing the creativity and exploration back into your life you get to re-experience the excitement of discovery, alter what lies before you and literally revitalize all aspects of your life.
